Panna: Radio tag under a project to study the life cycle and migration path of three migratory vultures in the Panna Tiger Reserve of Madhya Pradesh. Tag) has been applied. Reserve’s field director Uttam Kumar Sharma said that we have successfully radio-tagged two Eurasian griffins and one Himalayan griffin in Panna Tiger Reserve. Prior to this, there is no information about migratory vultures being radio-tagged in the country. The official said that till now no information has been collected about the living conditions of the migratory vultures and the route followed by them.
“The main objective of the project is to know the migration patterns of vultures and their travel routes,” Sharma said. He said that the work of radio tagging was started in December 2020 to collect information about the behavior of the vultures, their travel route, and their life cycle.
“We had tagged three migratory vultures in Panna Tiger Reserve at that time. Our efforts continued in 2021 as well, but no migratory vulture could be tagged. In November, the arrival of migratory vultures to the reserve has become dry.” A total of 10 vultures, including three migratory vultures, have been radio-tagged so far, the official said.
