Jabalpur: Indian Motor Vehicle Amendment Act 2019 is going to be implemented soon in Madhya Pradesh. State Transport Commissioner Mukesh Jain appeared in the Jabalpur High Court on Wednesday after the High Court’s rebuke in the case of illegally operating auto-rickshaws in violation of permit conditions in the state. After this, the matter of implementing the new Motor Act soon came to light in the state. In the matter, the reply has been presented on behalf of Transport Commissioner Mukesh Jain on a written affidavit in Jabalpur High Court. It said that the orders of the High Court would be followed letter and spirit.

In response from the Transport Commissioner, it was said that action would be taken to confiscate the auto-rickshaws operating without a permit in the entire state. Along with this, the matter of implementing the Indian Motor Vehicle Amendment Act 2019 in the state within 45 days has been made in the reply presented in the High Court. The High Court has sought an action taken report from the Transport Department in this matter in 2 weeks and has fixed January 3 for the next hearing on the matter.

A fine of Rs 10,000 will be imposed for not giving way to emergency vehicles and driving without being disqualified.

Fines increased manifold

  • Under section 178, now a fine of Rs 500 will have to be paid for traveling without a ticket.

  • Under section 189, now there is a provision of fine of Rs 5000 for speeding/racing.
  • Under section 1921A, now driving a vehicle without a permit will have to pay a fine of up to Rs 10,000.
