Darjeeling: Toy Train Services Suspended between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling in North Bengal has been temporarily suspended due to a landslide. An official gave this information on Sunday. The step has been taken after a section of the toy train’s route between Rangtang and Tindhariya station was hit by a landslide, he said.

However, toy train operations are continuing between Darjeeling, Ghum, and Batasia Loop, a North Frontier Railway (NFR) official said. Debris accumulated on the tracks due to landslides on the National Highway (NH-55), which runs parallel to the rail route, an official of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway said. He said that it would take a few days for the repair and restoration of the track.

The toy train services between Darjeeling and New Jalpaiguri are likely to be restored on September 25, before the start of the Durga Puja festival, an NFR official said. It is noteworthy that due to another landslide in the first week of September, the toy train services from the plains to Darjeeling were suspended briefly.
