Varanashi: In a blend of tradition and wellness, Kashi one of India’s holiest cities has launched a 21-day mantra therapy camp aimed at harnessing the healing power of ancient chants. The initiative, the first of its kind in the region, began on Sunday at the Rishiv Vedic Research, Yoga, and Naturopathy Center in Shuddhipur.

What is Mantra Therapy?

Mantra therapy is an ancient practice that involves chanting specific sound vibrations believed to influence physical, mental, and emotional well-being. In this camp, more than 3,000 mantras have been carefully selected and categorized to address a wide range of health issues, from stress and anxiety to chronic illnesses.

How the Camp Works

Each day, participants gather for a three-hour and fourteen-minute session led by experienced mantra experts. The daily routine is structured as follows:

  • Opening Ritual (15 minutes): Group chanting of “Om” and the Vedic Gayatri Mantra, followed by guided meditation to center the mind.
  • Disease-Specific Chanting: Mantra experts then chant mantras tailored to the ailments of each patient. These mantras are recited in the Prakrit language, maintaining the authenticity of ancient healing traditions.
  • Meditative Listening (30 minutes): Patients listen to the mantras in a meditative state, believed to enhance their therapeutic effects.
  • Active Participation: Each patient is encouraged to chant mantras themselves for at least 5 minutes, fostering personal engagement in their healing journey.
  • Complementary Practices: The sessions also incorporate yoga, meditation, and pranayama (breathing exercises) to support holistic well-being.

Organizers and Objectives

The camp is a collaborative effort by Nav Bharat Nirman Samiti and Sanatanam The Fire, organizations dedicated to reviving and promoting India’s spiritual heritage. According to Brijesh Singh, Secretary of the organizing committee, the goal is to offer an alternative, non-invasive therapy that can help reduce the risk of diseases and guide individuals towards positive thinking and emotional balance.

Why Mantra Therapy?

Proponents believe that the vibrations produced by chanting mantras can help realign the body’s energy, dispel negative thoughts, and promote healing at both physical and psychological levels. The camp is open to people of all ages and backgrounds, and each participant receives a personalized mantra regimen based on their specific health needs.

Community Response

The initiative has generated significant interest among locals and wellness enthusiasts, with many eager to experience the therapeutic benefits of mantra chanting. Organizers hope that the success of this camp will inspire similar wellness programs across India.
