Pune: The Juvenile Justice Board in Pune has taken decisive action in the case of the 17-year-old teen who caused a fatal car accident by crashing his speeding Porsche into a motorbike, resulting in the immediate loss of two lives. The Board has cancelled the bail order previously granted to the accused and remanded him to an observation home until June 5.

- Initial Bail Controversy: The Board had initially granted bail to the teenager just hours after the tragic accident. However, this decision sparked widespread criticism from various quarters. As part of the bail conditions, the teen was also instructed to write a 300-word essay on road accidents, a move that drew significant public outcry.
- Police Intervention: Responding to the public outcry, the Pune police approached the Board again, urging a review of its order. They sought permission to treat the teenager as an adult accused due to the heinous nature of the crime. The police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the minor under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Motor Vehicles Act.
- Additional Charges: Ahead of the hearing before the Juvenile Justice Board, the police added more sections to the charges against the accused. - Legal Consequences for the Father: The boy’s father, Vishal Agarwal, a real estate developer, has also faced legal repercussions. He was arrested under the Juvenile Justice Act for allowing his underage son to drive the car, thus exposing him to danger. Vishal Agarwal has been remanded in police custody for further questioning.
The Juvenile Justice Board is yet to decide whether the minor will be tried as an adult for this grave offence. The case continues to attract public attention and scrutiny as authorities grapple with the tragic consequences of reckless driving by a young offender.
