Kabul: Since the Taliban’s occupation, Afghanistan is facing an economic crisis these days. After starvation, the country is now facing the fear of cold. The United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has announced financial assistance to 10,000 poor families in Afghanistan to protect them from the cold. Most of the country’s population is in dire need of help to meet their daily needs. UNICEF itself has tweeted this information.

According to the report of Khama Press, the people of the country are suffering from hunger since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan. The people there do not even have the money to buy heating items to avoid the cold. According to the report of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), more than 20 million people in Afghanistan are facing food shortages.

According to WHO data, 34000 children are malnourished in Afghanistan and have been admitted to hospitals. According to a report by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), more than 4.6 million (46 lakh) people have received cash assistance. India provided aid to Afghanistan this year. A humanitarian aid consignment of 2,500 tonnes of wheat from India was sent to Jalalabad in Afghanistan via Pakistan on 26 February. After this, the second consignment of India’s humanitarian aid carrying 2,000 metric tonnes of wheat left for Jalalabad, Afghanistan from Attari, Amritsar on 3 March. In addition, India sent a third consignment of 2,000 metric tonnes of wheat in 40 trucks through the Attari-Wagah border on 8 March.
