Suicide car bomb attack in Afghanistan

Kabul: A suicide car bomb attack on a police station in Afghanistan’s southern Kandahar province has killed at least four people and injured 40 others.

A provincial official gave this information on Monday. Mohammad Ashraf Nadri, provincial director of Kandahar’s public health department, said the attack took place late Sunday night in Maiwand district and paramedics were still working to evacuate people trapped in the rubble of the collapsed house. According to him, the injured include soldiers and common people.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the needle of suspicion is pointing at the Taliban. Despite peace talks in Qatar between the Taliban and the Afghan government, violence in the country has escalated in recent months.
