Britain and France have announced the closure of a plan to bring civilians from Afghanistan after the suicide attack on the Kabul airport. Britain’s defense chief, General Sir Nick Carter, said during a media interview on Saturday that the country should “remain firm” on the challenge ahead amid the threat posed by the local Islamic State Khorasan (ISIS-K) terrorist group. The same group was behind the suicide attack on Afghanistan’s airport this week. Carter said Britain was “not out of the woods” yet.
At the same time, French Foreign Minister Jean-Eve Le Drian and Defense Minister Florence Parle announced that, on Friday, the operation to evacuate people was ended and the temporary embassy of France built at Kabul airport was also closed.
