New Delhi: WhatsApp, the popular messaging app that has become a necessity for everyone, is always introducing new features to enhance the user experience. One such feature that is expected to be launched soon is the People Nearby feature, which will allow users to easily transfer their files and photos to nearby devices without using the internet, just like Bluetooth.

How it Works

The company has revealed the details of the upcoming feature on the Wabetainfo website, which tracks the latest updates and news about WhatsApp. According to the website, the feature will enable users to share large files up to 2 GB with multiple devices at the same time. For this, a new option called People Nearby will be added to the app, which will show the list of devices that are within the range of the user’s device. The user can then select the devices that they want to share the files with and tap on the send button. The feature will work only when both the sender and the receiver have the People Nearby feature enabled on their devices.

Benefits

The feature will be very useful for users who want to share files and photos with their friends, family, or colleagues without spending their internet data. The feature will also work in areas where the internet connectivity is poor or unavailable. The feature will also save time and battery, as the user will not have to switch on Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to transfer the files. The feature will also ensure the privacy and security of the files, as they will not be uploaded to any server or cloud.

Availability

The feature is currently in its testing stage and will be rolled out to the users after the final process. The feature will be available for both Android and iOS devices and will be compatible with the latest version of the app. The feature will be optional, and the user can turn it on or off as per their preference. The feature will also have a QR code option, which will allow the user to scan the code of the device that they want to share the files with. The feature will also have a visibility option, which will allow the user to choose who can see their device on the People Nearby list. The user can select from three options: Everyone, My Contacts, or Nobody.
