Satwik-Chirag won Indonesia Open title

JAKARTA: Indian star shuttlers Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty created history by winning the Indonesia Open Super 1000 badminton title. They defeated the world-champion Malaysian pair of Aaron Cheah and Wooi Yik Soh 21-17, 21-18. With this, they have become the first Indian pair to win a Super 1000 level event.

The Birmingham Commonwealth Games winners and Asian champions Indian pair took 43 minutes to win the hard-fought match.
It was their first win against the world No. 3 Malaysian pair in their nine meetings. The Indian team started off slow but started unleashing their attacking prowess to grab six points in a row and take a 9-7 lead. He protected his lead and secured the first set.

In the second set, both the pair showed aggression and the score became equal to 6-6. But the impressive shot selection and quick reflexes from Satwiksairaj and Chirag gave them the lead in the second game. And after this, the Maleshai pair was not given a chance to make a comeback.

The win at the Indonesia Open is the sixth title on the BWF World Tour for Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy. His last BWF title came at the Swiss Open Super 300 tournament in March. He had suffered a reverse in his last tournament as he was ousted from the Singapore Open 2023.
