Mumbai: Ashish Sakharkar was a renowned Indian bodybuilder who won many national and international awards, including the Mr. India title four times, the Mr. Universe silver and bronze medals, and the Shiv Chhatrapati Award. He was born on 18 November 1979 in Mumbai and was married to Runali Sakharkar, a dietitian. He had two sons, one of them named Ayush.

He passed away on 19 July 2023 in Mumbai after battling an illness. The exact nature of his illness is not clear, but it is reported that he was admitted to a hospital in south Mumbai a week before his death. His death was mourned by many people, including the chief minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde. He was 43 years old at the time of his death.

  • He won the Mr. Maharashtra bodybuilding competition, following in his father’s footsteps.
  • He won Mr. India (Federation Cup) title four times, becoming one of the top bodybuilders in the country.
  • He won a Gold medal in the prestigious IFBB European Championship, a Silver medal in the IFBB Mr. Asia Championship, a Silver and Bronze medal in the esteemed IFBB Mr. Universe Championship, and an impressive 7th rank in the highly competitive Amateur Mr. Olympia Championship.
  • He received the prestigious Shiv Chhatrapati Award from the Maharashtra government for his exemplary contributions to bodybuilding.
