Five terrorists killed in Kulgam encounter

Srinagar: Security forces have eliminated five terrorists belonging to The Resistance Front (TRF) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in an encounter in the Kulgam district of South Kashmir. The operation was launched on Thursday morning after receiving inputs about the presence of terrorists in Samnu village in the Nehama area.

According to officials, the security forces cordoned off the village and started a search operation. The terrorists opened fire on the security forces, triggering a gunfight. The exchange of fire continued till the early hours of Friday, after a brief lull on Thursday night. The security forces surrounded the location where the terrorists were hiding and neutralized them.

Five terrorists killed in Kulgam encounter

This is the latest in a series of successful anti-terror operations by the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. On Wednesday, two infiltrators were killed near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector. On October 26, five terrorists were killed on the LoC in the Machil sector of the Kupwara district. On October 22, two terrorists were killed while trying to cross the LoC in the Uri sector. A total of 11 infiltrators were killed in June.
