Beijing: Chinese leaders hope that if the Democratic Party candidate Joe Biden wins the upcoming US Presidential Elections, then China will change attitudes towards trade, technology, and security. But any change is only likely to be in style as frustration with China grows in every sphere of American politics.

The results of the election show that neither the Republicans nor the leaders of the Democratic Party seem ready to take a softer stance towards China. Over the past few months, US-China relations have become more bitter due to controversies such as the corona virus epidemic, technology, trade, security and espionage.

Despite sharp differences between the Democratic and Republican parties on a number of issues, both sides have been critical of China’s business record and its attitude toward religious and ethnic minorities in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Tibet and Xinjiang.

Chinese analysts say Trump’s war strategy and China’s soft stance on rival India are not conducive to China and that Biden’s victory alone could soften US-China relations.

At least, Biden’s policy will not be as emotional and ridiculous as Trump’s, said Yu Wanli, a professor of international relations at Beijing University of Language and Culture. Xi Yinhong of Renmin University in Beijing, one of the country’s leading scholars on international relations, said, “Democrats seem less aggressive, so they can focus more on preventing military conflicts and resolving problems and negotiating with China.” ”
