New Delhi: In a significant move, the central government has announced a 2% increase in the salaries of its employees through an adjustment in the Dearness Allowance (DA). This biannual revision will see the DA rise from 53% to 55% of the basic salary, providing much-needed financial relief to government employees.
The government reviews and adjusts the DA twice a year to help employees cope with inflation and rising living costs. This latest increase is calculated based on the basic salary of the employees.
For instance, an employee with a basic salary of ₹30,000 will see an increase of ₹600 in their monthly salary. Similarly, those earning a basic salary of ₹50,000 will receive an additional ₹1,000, while employees with a basic salary of ₹1,00,000 will benefit from a ₹2,000 increase.
This adjustment aims to ensure that government employees can maintain their purchasing power and standard of living despite economic fluctuations. The increase in DA is a crucial component of the government’s strategy to support its workforce and address the challenges posed by inflation.
