Kolkata: In an unprecedented move, Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay of the Calcutta High Court on Thursday encouraged the journalists present in the courtroom to video-record the proceedings before him. The Single Bench of Justice Gangopadhyay is hearing the West Bengal Teachers Recruitment Scam case. Today he had asked to appear in court along with five others including Sukanya, daughter of TMC leader Anubrata Mandal. The next hearing of this case will be on September 1.

The petitioners had alleged that people close to Anubrata Mandal, including his daughter, were given jobs as teachers. He also claimed that Mandal’s daughter Sukanya never went to Kalikapur Primary School in Birbhum. The court asked Sukanya to produce the TET certificate and other documents. Anubrata Mandal, arrested in the cow smuggling case, is accused of using his influence to get government jobs for his daughter and others.
