- The Victims: Kaveri Nakhwa, a 45-year-old resident of Worli Koliwada, was riding pillion with her husband, Pradeep, when the BMW struck their scooter on Dr. Annie Besant Marg around 5:30 am. The impact was so severe that the car dragged the woman’s body for over 2 kilometers. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
- The Accused: Mihir Shah, son of Rajesh Shah, a prominent leader of the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) in Palghar district near Mumbai, was allegedly behind the wheel. Shockingly, CCTV footage captured Mihir sitting in the passenger seat of the Mercedes car just moments before the fatal collision. Police suspect he was intoxicated, having been seen at a Juhu bar hours earlier.
- The Bar Connection: Mihir and his friends visited the Global Tapas Bar in Juhu, where they settled a bill of Rs 18,730. Bar owner Karan Shah confirmed their presence and revealed that Mihir left with his companions in a Mercedes car around 1:40 am.
- The Escape: After the accident, Mihir fled towards the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, abandoning his BMW and leaving driver Rajrishi Bidawat behind. Worli police promptly arrested Mihir’s father, Rajesh Shah, and Bidawat for aiding Mihir’s escape. The car’s ownership was traced back to Rajesh Shah.
