Jhansi: In a heart-wrenching incident, 42-year-old Tarun Saxena, an area manager at Bajaj Finance, was found dead at his residence in Jhansi. Saxena, who had been with the company for eight years, left behind a detailed suicide note addressed to his wife, revealing the immense stress and pressure he faced at work.
Discovery of the Body
The tragic discovery was made by the house help, who found Saxena hanging. In a distressing turn of events, Saxena had locked his wife Megha and their two children, Yatharth and Pihu, in a separate room before taking his life. The house help immediately alerted Saxena’s cousin, Gaurav Saxena, who rushed to the scene and freed the family. The police were promptly informed of the incident.
Family’s Account and Allegations
Gaurav Saxena, deeply affected by the loss, shared that Tarun had been under severe pressure from his superiors at Bajaj Finance to meet stringent collection targets. “When he failed to meet the targets, his salary was deducted. This morning, during a conference call with his seniors, Vaibhav Saxena and Prabhakar Mishra from Bhopal, the pressure became unbearable,” Gaurav told.
Contents of the Suicide Note
In his suicide note, Tarun detailed the relentless stress he endured. He mentioned that he and his colleagues were often forced to cover the EMIs they couldn’t recover from their area. “I am very tense about the future. I have lost my ability to think. I am going…. I have not slept for 45 days. I have hardly eaten. I am under a lot of stress. Senior managers are pressuring me to meet targets at any cost or quit,” he wrote.
Tarun also expressed his concern for his family’s well-being, having paid his children’s school fees for the entire year before his death. He requested his parents to take care of his wife and children and to ensure the construction of the second floor of their home for their comfort. “You all take care of Megha, Yatharth, and Pihu. Mummy, Papa, I have never asked for anything, but am doing so now. Please get the second floor built so that my family can stay comfortably,” the note read.
Police Statement
Jhansi’s Superintendent of Police, Gyanendra Kumar, confirmed the contents of the suicide note, which accused Saxena’s superiors of harassment and undue pressure to meet high recovery targets. “If a complaint is lodged by the family, further investigation will be initiated,” Kumar stated.
This tragic incident highlights the urgent need to address workplace stress and the mental health of employees. Bajaj Finance has yet to respond to the allegations made in Saxena’s suicide note.
