
New Delhi: Violence erupted in Northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area on Saturday after stones were pelted at a procession taken out on the occasion of Hanuman Janmotsav. Some vehicles were set ablaze by the miscreants. Whereas, many policemen have been injured in this incident.
A senior police officer said, “Clash broke out between two communities. But we have deployed sufficient force and senior officers are also on the spot. The situation is now being brought under control.”
Don’t fall into any kind of rumor
Special Commissioner of Police, Law, and Order, Deependra Pathak said, “Security was beefed up in Jahangirpuri area following a clash between two groups. We are taking stock of the situation. Our priority is to bring the situation under control. We are assessing the injured. We are trying to create a peaceful environment by talking to the people. There is an appeal to maintain peace and order.”
He said, “We have made complete security arrangements here. There is an appeal to the people to maintain peace and not fall into any kind of rumors. There was a clash between two groups during a procession. We are probing the matter.”
Situation under control
Delhi Police CP Rakesh Asthana said, “The situation is under control. Additional forces have been deployed at the spot, along with special deployment has been made in sensitive areas all over Delhi. Two policemen have been injured. We will take strict action against the accused.”
CM Kejriwal appeals to maintain peace
At the same time, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has appealed to the people to maintain peace. He said, “I want to tell the people that they have to maintain peace and order because without it the country cannot progress. It is the responsibility of agencies, police, and the central government in Delhi, then the central government should maintain peace and order Delhi.

The guilty will not be spared
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said in the tweet, “Spoke to LG (Anil Baijal). He assured that all steps are being taken to ensure peace and the guilty will not be spared.”
Terming the incidents of violence and stone-pelting in the national capital as unfortunate, the LG (Lt Governor) said that no one will be spared behind these activities. He also took stock of the situation with CP, Delhi, and appealed to the people to maintain peace. He has directed that all possible help should be provided to the injured police personnel besides civilians injured in the scuffle.
