Pilot admitted guilty of state plane crash, notice of recovery of 85 crores

Bhopal: The state government has framed charges against Captain Majid Akhtar, the pilot of the aircraft, in connection with the crash of a Madhya Pradesh government aircraft (B-200GT/VT MPQ). Considering him guilty of the accident, the government has also served a recovery notice of Rs 85 crore. After getting the reply, the government will now decide about the recovery from them. After the accident, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation suspended the license of pilot Majid Akhtar in August 2021 itself.

The state government has clarified in the departmental inquiry that the accident happened due to the negligence of the pilot. In which 62 crore aircraft crashed. Because of this, the government had to take aircraft on rent. On which about Rs 23 crore has been spent so far. In this way, the government has suffered a loss of Rs 85 crore.

In the charge sheet issued to Captain Majid, the state government said that why should not be compensated for the loss due to this negligence. It is noteworthy that this Madhya Pradesh government aircraft was returning from Gujarat with Remdesivir injection for the treatment of corona infected on 7 May 2021, when the accident happened during landing at Gwalior airport. At the time of landing, the plane collided with the arrester barrier installed about 300 feet before the runway. Due to which the front part of the cockpit of the aircraft, the propeller blades have been damaged. It is not likely to improve.

Didn’t even have insurance
According to sources, the insurance period of the state aircraft had also ended a few days ago, due to which it is not possible to compensate for the loss of the aircraft. Meanwhile, Secretary of the Aviation Department, M Selvandran said that a departmental inquiry is being conducted against Captain Majid. Under this, a charge sheet has been issued on the basis of allegations of negligence against him. Further decisions will be taken after the reply is received.
