
New Delhi: Union Joint Health Secretary Luv Agarwal said on Tuesday that, “Corona positivity rate in 44 districts of the country is more than 10 percent. These districts are in Kerala, Manipur, Mizoram, and Nagaland. Speaking in the press conference organized on the coronavirus, Agarwal said, “47 percent of the cases reported in the country last week are from Kerala alone.”
“As on June 1, there were 279 districts where more than 100 cases were reported, but now it has come down to 57 districts where more than 100 cases are being reported in the country,” Agarwal said. The number of cases has come down. Case trajectory is observed in a limited area. There are 18 districts, including 10 in Kerala, where the trend of increasing cases is visible. These 18 districts account for 47.5% of the cases.
Positivity rate 10 percent in 44 district
The Health Ministry said, “There are 44 districts where the case positivity rate is more than 10%. These districts are in Kerala, Manipur, Mizoram, and Nagaland. 40.6% of corona cases have come from 10 districts of Kerala in the last week.
More than one lakh active cases in Kerala
The Health Ministry further said, “As on May 10, there were 37 lakh active cases in the country, which have now come down to 4 lakh. There is one state where there are more than 1 lakh active cases and there are 8 states where there are 10,000 to 1 lakh active cases. There are 27 states where there are less than 10,000 active cases.

The government gave 47.85 doses to the states
The Health Ministry said, “A total of 47.85 crore doses were given in the country, which includes 37.26 crores for the first dose and 10.59 crore for the second dose. We gave 19.6 lakh doses in May and 43.41 lakh doses in July. The total dose of vaccines administered in July is more than double that of May.”
He said, “There are some states where more than 3 crore vaccination doses have been supplied. UP has been given 4.88 crore doses, Maharashtra 4.5 crore, and Gujarat 3.4 crore doses.
He further said, “A large number of COVID cases are being reported across the world and the pandemic is not over yet. As far as India is concerned, the second wave is not over yet.”
Number of R in eight states
Lav Agarwal said, “The growth rate and active cases are also assessed using the breeding (R) number. It is the average number of new infections generated by an infected person during the entire infectious period.” He said, “Whenever the R number is above one, it means that the case is increasing and needs to be controlled. “
He further added, “The US, Canada, Australia, and India have an average of 1.2 R numbers. This means that one infected person is infecting more than one person. R number is more in 8 states of India.
