According to recovered CCTV footage, the attacker, Prince Raj Singh, a resident of Mallian village, entered the classroom carrying a bag. He was seen engaging in a brief conversation with the victim, Sandeep Kaur, and another female classmate.
The trio moved toward the back benches of the room. At 9:17 AM, while sitting just in front of Kaur, Singh stood up, retrieved a pistol from his bag, and fired a single shot into her head at point,blank range. As other students fled in panic, Singh immediately turned the gun on himself and pulled the trigger. While Kaur succumbed to her injuries on the spot, Singh was rushed to a nearby hospital where he is currently battling for his life under heavy police guard.
A History of Harassment and Unrequited Obsession
As the community reels from the shock, details regarding the relationship between the two first,year law students have begun to emerge. Family members of Sandeep Kaur, a resident of Naushehra Pannuan, revealed that Singh had been harassing her for several months. Her mother, Harjinder Kaur, stated that the attacker had even visited their home on multiple occasions to pressure Sandeep into marriage, but was consistently rejected.
The situation reportedly escalated after Sandeep became engaged to another man three months ago. Her sister, Manpreet Kaur, shared that Singh had issued a chilling threat just days prior, allegedly telling her, “If you can’t be mine, I won’t let you be anyone else’s.” This history of stalking and obsession has led investigators to believe the attack was a premeditated act of vengeance.
