Chandigarh: In a significant operation on Sunday morning, Punjab Police dismantled a major smuggling gang based on a crucial intelligence input. The operation led to the seizure of a substantial quantity of drugs originating from Pakistan and the arrest of key suspects.
Swift Action on Intelligence Leads
Acting on information that foreign drugs were being transported to India from Pakistan via waterways, Punjab Police swiftly intervened. The intelligence-driven operation successfully uncovered a cross-border smuggling racket.
Massive Drug Haul
During the operation, police apprehended two associates of notorious foreign drug smuggler Navpreet Singh, also known as Nav Bhullar. The haul included:
- 105 kg of heroin
- 31.93 kg of caffeine anhydrous
- 17 kg of DMR
- 5 foreign pistols
- 1 country-made pistol
FIR Registered in Amritsar
Investigations revealed that the drugs were smuggled using large rubber tubes of tires via waterways from Pakistan. The police arrested Navjot Singh and Lovepreet Kumar in connection with the case.
Ongoing Investigation
Punjab Police’s DGP confirmed that an FIR has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar. The investigation is ongoing to uncover further links and apprehend additional members of the drug cartel.
