New Delhi: Bajaj-Triumph is gearing up for the launch of two new motorcycles built on the 400cc platform, expected to make a significant impact in the Indian market. Manufactured by Bajaj Auto, these bikes are set to showcase Triumph’s signature blend of advanced engineering and classic design, following in the footsteps of the recently launched Speed 400.

Triumph recently confirmed the upcoming release of these new models, which will feature a design language similar to the Speed 400. The fuel tank, seen in teaser images, hints at a resemblance to the Speed 400, with Carnival Red and Phantom Black color options giving the bike an eye-catching and dynamic appearance. However, despite speculation, this new model is not expected to be the Thruxton 400, which was recently spotted during testing in international markets.

Scheduled for a grand unveiling or launch in India on September 17, 2024, the identity of this mysterious motorcycle remains a topic of much discussion. Teasers reveal little, but industry insiders suggest that it could be a more affordable variant of the Bajaj-Triumph Speed 400, positioning it as a strong competitor to Royal Enfield’s offerings in the 300cc to 500cc single-cylinder segment.

Royal Enfield has long dominated this market, but Triumph seems poised to offer a compelling alternative, potentially pricing the new model up to Rs 10,000 lower than the Speed 400 to undercut competitors like the upcoming Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450. The teaser also reveals the bike’s bar-end mirrors, with suggestions that it could be a sportier accessory variant of the Speed 400.

Triumph

Built on the same platform as the Speed 400, the new Triumph 400cc motorcycles will feature a 398cc single-cylinder DOHC 4V liquid-cooled engine, delivering 39.5 bhp of power and 37.5 Nm of torque. A 6-speed gearbox is expected to ensure smooth performance, with much of the equipment and features shared between the models.

As anticipation builds, these new additions from Bajaj-Triumph could reshape the landscape of the mid-sized motorcycle market in India, offering a unique combination of classic style, modern performance, and competitive pricing to challenge the reign of Royal Enfield.
