137.61 crore transfer to construction workers account through DBT

Mumbai: The State Government has announced a large economic package to help workers associated with building and other construction work in the Corona crisis. Under this, the state government has deposited the amount directly in the account of these construction workers. In the last four days, 137.61 crore rupees have been deposited directly into the workers’ accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). State Labor Minister Hasan Mushrif has given this information.

He said that the process of depositing Rs 1,500 directly into the bank account of 13 lakh construction workers registered under the Maharashtra Building and Under Construction Workers Welfare Board is in progress. Out of 13 lakh, financial assistance has been provided to 9 lakh 17 thousand registered construction workers. Soon the money will be transferred to the account of the remaining workers.

Rs 5,400 crore package
While announcing the lockdown, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had announced an economic package of Rs 5,400 crore for workers and people associated with other professions. Under this, 1500 rupees will be given to laborers engaged in construction work. Apart from this, rickshaw pullers with permits will be given financial assistance of Rs 1500.
