Dispur: Hours after the second phase of voting was held in Assam (Assam Assembly Election 2021) on Thursday, a video surfaced on social media. The video allegedly showed an electronic voting machine (EVM) in the car of a BJP candidate from Patharkandi Krishnendu Paul. The video was tweeted by Assam journalist Atanu Bhuyan. In it, he claimed that ‘the situation in Patharkandi is tense’ after the incident.

Taking a dig at the BJP over this incident, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that the Election Commission should take decisive action on such complaints. The Congress General Secretary said that the use of EVM requirements by all national parties should be re-evaluated.

Priyanka also said that the BJP uses its media system to accuse those who exposed them. The Congress leader said that every time the EVM is caught in a private vehicle, unexpectedly they have the following things: 1. Vehicles are usually from BJP candidates or their allies. 2. The video is dismissed as an illusion considering it to be just an incident. 3. BJP uses its media system to accuse those who busted through video.
