High Voter Turnout in Third Phase of Lok Sabha Elections Across States

New Delhi: In the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections, held on Tuesday, voters across 10 states and two union territories displayed tremendous enthusiasm as they cast their votes for 93 seats. According to the Election Commission, more than 60 percent (61.83) of eligible voters participated in the electoral process until 6 pm. Long queues were observed at polling stations as citizens patiently waited for their turn to cast their ballots.

Key Highlights:

  1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi exercised his franchise at Nishan School in Ranip area, Ahmedabad, falling under the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat.
  2. Union Home Minister Amit Shah cast his vote at a polling booth in Naranpura area, also part of the Gandhinagar constituency.
  3. Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, industrialist Gautam Adani, and spiritual leader Morari Bapu also participated in the voting process in Gujarat.

  • Uttar Pradesh: An average of 57.34 percent voting occurred in 10 seats. The Samajwadi Party (SP) alleged voting irregularities in Badaun and Mainpuri. Notable turnout percentages in specific cities include:
    • Agra: 53.99%
    • Etah: 59.57%
    • Amla: 57.08%
    • Fatehpur Sikri: 57.09%
    • Firozabad: 58.22%
    • Badaun: 54.05%
    • Bareilly: 57.88%

    • Hathras: 55.36%
  • Gujarat: Voting reached 56.91 percent in 25 Lok Sabha seats. Notably, the BJP won unopposed in Surat after most candidates withdrew, and the Congress candidate’s nomination was rejected.
  • Madhya Pradesh: A 63.71 percent voter turnout was recorded in nine Lok Sabha seats. Specific turnout percentages in various constituencies include:
