According to Cricbuzz, Cricket West Indies (CWI), the co-host board, received intelligence about a threat originating from northern Pakistan.
IS Threatens Major Events, Including T20 World Cup
The intelligence points towards a threat from IS-Khorasan, a branch of the Islamic State terror group operating in northern Pakistan. Media reports in the Caribbean region claim the threat originated from IS’s propaganda wing, “Nashir Pakistan,” which has a history of inciting violence against major events worldwide.

The Cricbuzz report further reveals that regional security officials in Barbados, a key host nation, are closely monitoring the situation and potential threats to the ICC event. CWI, understanding the gravity of the situation, has assured top priority for everyone’s safety.
