Colombo: India has congratulated Sri Lanka for the appointment of two Women Pilots for the first time in the history of the Air Force. The appointment of Flying Officers ADPL Gunaratne and RT Weerawaradena on Monday is a moment of joy and pride not only for Sri Lanka but also for India, the Indian High Commission said in a statement here.
“Both officers were trained in the 204th Pilot Course from July 2018 to June 2019 at the Indian Air Force Academy in Hyderabad,” the statement said. The statement said that the training is the strongest pillar of bilateral cooperation between India and Sri Lanka. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has also congratulated him for the appointment of both the pilots.
