Mumbai: Renowned Indian fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, celebrated the arrival of his baby boy on Monday. Bumrah shared this joyous news on the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter), while also revealing the name of the newest addition to their family.

A BCCI official assured that Bumrah’s absence was not due to any injury concerns, but rather due to “personal reasons.” The official confirmed that Bumrah would rejoin the team during the Super 4 stage of the tournament.

The 29-year-old did not take to the field in the opening match against Pakistan due to rain disrupting play after India’s batting. Following a prolonged period of recovery from injury, Bumrah made his comeback during the three T20Is against Ireland. He led the team admirably on the tour and showcased impressive performances with the ball.

Bumrah actively participated in Team India’s preparatory camp for the Asia Cup in Alur, engaging in various match-simulation drills and skill-based sessions. Prior to the Pakistan encounter, Captain Rohit Sharma expressed his delight at having Bumrah back in the team.

“After an extended absence, it was a pleasure to see Jasprit Bumrah back on the field. He holds a vital role in our squad, and his return was highly anticipated. It was encouraging to witness his successful performances in the two matches he played during the Ireland tour, indicating a positive outlook for us. Both he and Prasidh Krishna displayed their talent during their time at the NCA during the rehabilitation phase,” Rohit remarked.
