New Delhi: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) announced that its popular-selling multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), the Innova Hycross, has crossed the 50,000 units sales mark in India since its launch in November 2022. The Innova Hycross is a comprehensive upgrade over the previous generation Innova Crysta, offering a strong hybrid engine, a monocoque body, and several advanced features. The Innova Hycross and Innova Crysta are sold alongside each other in the Indian market, catering to different segments of customers.
Innova Hycross: A Success Story
The Innova Hycross retails between ₹19.77 lakh and ₹30.68 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), depending on the variant. The automaker attributed the success of the MPV to its exceptional service and warranty packages, which enhance the customer satisfaction and loyalty. The Innova nameplate holds strong goodwill in the market for its low total cost of ownership (TCO), which makes it a default choice for both private and commercial buyers.
The model gets a standard warranty of 3 years/100,000 km, which can be extended to 5 years/220,000 km at an additional cost. The company also offers free roadside assistance for the first year and attractive finance schemes for the customers. The hybrid battery, which is the key component of the MPV’s performance and efficiency, gets a warranty of 8 years/160,000 km, ensuring peace of mind for the owners.

Innova Hycross: A Technological Marvel
The Toyota Innova Hycross is based on the latest Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, which brings a monocoque body to the MPV, instead of the traditional ladder-on-frame construction. This results in improved handling, stability, and ride quality, as well as reduced weight and noise. The Innova Hycross is more advanced and feature-loaded than the Innova Crysta, offering segment-first paddle shifters, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control for the first and second rows, an electrically operable tailgate, and LED daytime running lights (DRLs). The second row gets electrically adjustable seats with a powered ottoman, bringing more comfort and luxury to the occupants.
The big update on the new-generation Innova Hycross is the absence of the diesel engine option, which was discontinued due to the stricter emission norms. Instead, the MPV gets a strong hybrid engine, which combines a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol motor with an electric motor. The hybrid system produces a combined output of 183 bhp, which is higher than the 150 bhp of the diesel engine. The hybrid system also optimises the performance and fuel efficiency of the MPV, by running on electric propulsion for 40 per cent of the distance and 60 per cent of the time. The Innova Hycross Hybrid claims a fuel efficiency of 23.24 kmpl (ARAI certified), which is significantly higher than the 13.68 kmpl of the petrol engine and the 15.1 kmpl of the diesel engine.
