Mumbai: Bollywood actor Salman Khan has once again found himself at the center of a life-threatening situation. This time, a chilling WhatsApp message was sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police, demanding a sum of Rs 5 crore to “resolve” the long-standing enmity between Khan and notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The threat was accompanied by a dire warning: if the demand is not met, Salman Khan’s fate will be worse than that of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui, who was recently murdered.
Lawrence Bishnoi Gang’s Plot Uncovered
The threat against Khan comes just days after Navi Mumbai Police made a significant breakthrough in an alleged assassination plot targeting the actor. On October 17, police arrested a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Sukha alias Sukhbir Balbir Singh, who was involved in the conspiracy to kill Khan. Sukhbir was apprehended in Panipat, Haryana, by a special team of Panvel Town Police (Navi Mumbai).
Cross-Border Conspiracy Involving Deadly Weapons
According to the police, Sukha was in communication with a key conspirator, Dogar, who is based in Pakistan. It has been revealed that the Bishnoi gang was planning to use sophisticated weapons, including AK-47s, M16s, and AK-92 rifles, sourced from Pakistan, to carry out the hit on Salman Khan. The arrest of Sukha marks a significant step in foiling this dangerous plan, though investigations are ongoing. The accused will soon be presented in court in Navi Mumbai as law enforcement officials continue to uncover more details.
Previous Attempts on Salman Khan’s Life
This is not the first time Salman Khan has faced threats from the Bishnoi gang. In January 2024, two unidentified individuals with fake identities attempted to enter Khan’s farmhouse near Panvel, raising concerns about his security. Khan had previously reported to the police that in 2022, a threatening letter was found outside his residence, and in March 2023, he received another menacing message via email, once again linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Baba Siddiqui’s Assassination: A Chilling Connection?
The latest threat also referenced the brutal murder of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui, who was gunned down on October 12. Siddiqui was shot outside the office of his MLA son Zeeshan Siddiqui in Mumbai’s Nirmal Nagar area. Preliminary investigations suggest that three gunmen were involved in the assassination. The police have already arrested four individuals in connection with the murder, including two alleged shooters Gurmel Baljit Singh from Haryana and Dharamraj Rajesh Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh as well as a “co-conspirator,” Praveen Lonkar from Pune.
Salman Khan’s Safety Under Constant Threat
The recurring threats against Salman Khan have raised alarms about the safety of the Bollywood star, who has been on the Bishnoi gang’s radar for years. With the latest threat demanding an exorbitant ransom and tying his fate to a recent high-profile murder, security agencies are on high alert. Law enforcement continues to investigate the cross-border links to the plot, especially with the involvement of sophisticated weaponry from Pakistan.
Growing Concern Over Gang Violence in Maharashtra
The resurfacing of these threats has sparked debates about gang violence and the reach of criminal networks operating from within and outside India. Salman Khan’s ongoing feud with the Bishnoi gang, combined with the murder of Baba Siddiqui, underscores the escalating tensions and the far-reaching implications of organized crime in the region.
