New Delhi: Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s birth anniversary was observed today by his family and party members. His wife Sonia Gandhi, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge and daughter Priyanka Gandhi visited his memorial ‘Veer Bhoomi’ in Delhi and offered flowers. His son and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, who is on a Ladakh tour till August 25, paid homage to his father at Pangong Tso Lake, one of his favorite places.
Rahul Gandhi rode a regular bike from Leh to reach Pangong Tso Lake and shared some pictures on his Instagram handle. He wrote – On the way to Pangong Tso. My father used to say, it is one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Rahul Gandhi is in Ladakh for the first time since it became a union territory. He is celebrating Sadbhavna Diwas, a day dedicated to Rajiv Gandhi’s ideals of harmony and goodwill. Rajiv Gandhi became the youngest Prime Minister of India in 1984 after the assassination of his mother Indira Gandhi. He was killed by LTTE militants on May 21, 1991. He is still remembered by the youth for his visionary works.
