Allahabad: Concerns are being expressed once again about the epidemic these days. In view of the increasing spread of Omicron, recently the Allahabad High Court had appealed to the Central Government to move the UP elections forward if possible. The court said that if there is life then there is a world. Election rallies will further increase the risk of Omicron and can have dire consequences if it is not controlled now. In such a situation, the court appealed to the government to move the elections forward.

Now the statement of the Chief Election Commissioner has come out in this regard. Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra has said that a decision in this regard will be taken next week. According to reports, the Chief Election Commissioner will visit Uttar Pradesh next week and review the situation there. After that, they will take appropriate decisions according to the situation. If they feel that the situation needs to be controlled, they will decide accordingly.

Significantly, elections are going to be held in UP early next year. Apart from UP, elections are also going to be held in Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab, and Manipur. In such a situation, if the threat of Omicron increases, then the elections can prove to be more fatal in this. Election tours, people coming to rallies will further increase the risk of disease.

On the other hand, according to Union Minister Anurag Thakur, if the Election Commission implements the model code of conduct, then it should decide on the conduct of state elections.
