Munger: The shooting that took place during the immersion of Durga idol in Munger and the case of baton charge by the police on the devotees caught on Thursday. The youths rioted and blew up the police jeep. They reached the SP office chanting slogans. Meanwhile, the Election Commission has issued an order to remove the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police of Munger. It is being informed that the posting of new District Collector and Reserve Superintendent will be done today. Munger police has taken major action in the case of lathi charge during idol immersion. The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday afternoon ordered the immediate removal of Superintendent of Police (SP), Munger, Lipi Singh, and District Magistrate, Rajesh Meena for the incident of police firing in Munger town. At midnight on Monday and Tuesday, a teenager was killed and at least nine young people suffered serious injuries.

Earlier on Thursday morning, an angry mob erupted in Munger town against the alleged indiscriminate firing of the district police administration and destroyed public property worth lakhs of rupees and set fire to several police vehicles. The district police administration had allegedly set fire to the idols of Durga during a procession on Monday night. The poll panel has also ordered an inquiry into the shooting incident and asked to submit a report within a week.

The police simultaneously handed over the line to Mufassil police station chief and Vasudevpur OP chief. The case is being investigated, the DM said. If the mistake of the police comes to light, then such action will be taken and it will be remembered.
