New Delhi: Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles has launched the much-anticipated Jawa 42 FJ 350 roadster, with prices starting from ₹1.99 lakh and going up to ₹2.20 lakh (ex-showroom). This new model is a more powerful iteration of the popular ‘42’ series, featuring a taller stance, distinctive styling, and a larger engine. Bookings are now open both at dealerships and online, with deliveries set to begin on October 2, 2024.
2024 Jawa 42 FJ 350: Specifications and Features
The Jawa 42 FJ 350 is powered by a robust 334 cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, a significant upgrade from the 293 cc motor found in the standard 42. This engine, derived from the Yezdi Adventure, boasts enhancements such as better cooling, improved NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) levels, and overall superior performance.
Unlike the updated Jawa 350, which features a low-compression setup, the 42 FJ 350 is equipped with a high-compression unit that delivers an impressive 28.7 bhp and 29.6 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and includes an assist and slipper clutch for smoother gear shifts.
Advanced Hardware for Enhanced Performance
The suspension system of the Jawa 42 FJ 350 includes 41 mm telescopic front forks with 135 mm of travel and 5-step adjustable twin shocks at the rear with 100 mm of travel. Braking is handled by a 320 mm front disc and a rear disc brake, both equipped with dual-channel ABS as standard for enhanced safety.
The bike features a longer wheelbase of 1440 mm compared to the standard 42, providing better stability. The seat height is set at 790 mm, and the ground clearance is a respectable 178 mm. Weighing in at 184 kg (without fuel), the 42 FJ 350 is slightly heavier than its predecessor. It rides on 18-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels, with a wider 140-section rear tire for improved grip and handling.
