New Delhi: The Pakistan Cricket Board has again started showing its colors regarding the Asia Cup 2023 to be held this year. Zaka Ashraf, the likely next chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has rejected Najam Sethi’s ‘hybrid model’ for the Asia Cup to be held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Ashraf, the probable next chairman of PCB, said in a press conference on Wednesday, ‘First of all, I have already rejected the hybrid model of Asia Cup because I do not agree with it. The board of the Asian Cricket Council had decided that if the tournament is to be held in Pakistan, it should be held here.

Now this statement of Ashraf can start a controversy once again. After the Asia Cup, the ODI World Cup is going to be organized in India. After this statement Ashraf, questions are now being raised about Pakistan’s participation in the World Cup.

ACC approves hybrid model
The ACC Executive Board has approved the hybrid model for the 2023 Asia Cup. If Ashraf’s attitude remains the same, Asia Cup can be played without Pakistan.

An ACC board member said, “The Asia Cup model has been accepted by the ACC and there will be no change in it. Ashraf is free to say whatever he wants. It is known that Zaka Ashraf, a close aide of Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, is almost sure to become the PCB chairman.
