Peshawar: Coronavirus related to Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Waqar Seth, who sentenced former President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf to death in a treason case. He died at a private hospital in Islamabad due to complications. Officials gave this information on Friday.

Seth was 58 years old. He has a wife and a daughter in his family. He belonged to Dikhan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Seth was found infected with the corona virus on October 22, after which he was admitted to a hospital in Peshawar, officials said. He was later rushed to Kulsum International Hospital in Islamabad, where he died on Thursday. Seth was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court in June 2018.

He came to prominence when he presided over a special bench in December 2019 and sentenced former military dictator Pervez Musharraf to death on November 3, 2007 for treason in connection with the imposition of emergency in the country.

Musharraf, who ruled Pakistan between 1999 and 2008, was the first military dictator to be found guilty of overturning the constitution. Musharraf, 74, who has been living in Dubai since March 2016, had left Pakistan for treatment. Since then he has not returned citing safety and health reasons.
