New York: In the US, the George Floyd statue that was defaced in Brooklyn has been cleared and moved to Union Square in Manhattan. The statue was painted black on June 24, five days after it was unveiled, and the insignia of a group that considered the best of whites was put on it.

Members of the group that installed the statue cleaned it, and Floyd’s brother Terence Floyd and local residents gathered near it before moving it to Union Square. Terence Floyd said, “I heard reports of it being mutilated. You will try to stop us but you will not be able to stop us. We will continue to move forward with love.” Andrew Cohen of Confront Art, the group that created the statue, said people spent hours cleaning the paint with toothbrushes and hands.

No one has been arrested in this connection yet. Significantly, the neck of black George Floyd was pressed by a white police officer with his knee for a long time, due to which he died. After this incident, there were widespread demonstrations around the world.
