Coronavirus uncontrolled in many areas of Pakistan, ‘smart lockdown’ imposed

Islamabad: ‘Smart Lockdown’ has been imposed in the areas most affected by Corona Virus infection in Pakistan. With this, the country is seeing an increase in cases of infections. In Smart Lockdown areas, all markets, shopping malls, offices, and restaurants will remain closed but vegetable shops, hospitals, drug shops, bakeries, meat, and milk Permission has been granted to open shops.

Punjab Province Health Minister Yasmin Rashid said the lockdown has been imposed in Gujarat, Sialkot and Hafizabad. He informed that the lockdown will continue till 30 March in Gujarat, 24 March in Sialkot and 26 March in Hafizabad.

Asad Umar, the Planning Minister and head of the National Command and Control Center for Epidemics, warned that sanctions could be further tightened if standard operating procedures are not followed. According to official figures, three months after Thursday in Pakistan, the highest number of 3,495 cases of infection were reported on a single day and the total cases increased to 6,15,810, after which the latest sanctions have been imposed.

According to the ministry, 61 more patients died of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, after which the number of dead reached 13,717. With this, the condition of 2,062 other patients is critical. Pakistan officials said last week that the country was reeling under the third wave of pandemics.
