New Delhi: Retail Inflation rate in the country increased to 7.34% in September as compared to 6.69 in August. This information was given in the data released by the government. The National Statistics Office (NSO) of the Government of India has released its figures on Monday. Consumer inflation in the country, which was at 6.69 percent in August, has gone up to 7.34 percent in September. Earlier, it was 6.73 percent in July. A surge in food prices has been observed. Statistics show that the rate of food inflation rose to 10.68 percent in September while it was at 9.05 in the month of August.

Contraption has come down due to weak manufacturing growth, reduced functioning in the mining and power generation sectors. According to IIP figures, production in the manufacturing sector has weakened by 8.6 percent. Production in the mining sector stood at 9.8 percent and the power segment declined by 1.8 percent. In August 2019, industrial production recorded a decline of 1.4 percent. The Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation said in a statement that it would not be right to compare the IIP of the months after the Kovid-19 with the IIP of the months before the epidemic. Economic activities have improved due to the gradual relaxation of restrictions.

In the festive season, inflation of vegetables has increased the problems of ordinary consumers. Prices of all green vegetables including potatoes, tomatoes and onions are on the sky and there is no scope of relief at the moment. Continuously high prices have hurt the recession-stricken economy.
