chip shortage 2021

At present, the world markets including India are standing in a strange position. It may happen that you have money and you are not able to buy the car of your choice at this time. You can get to see something similar in the market of computers to smartphones as well. Not only this, but it is also possible that even after paying the money, you may not get the medical equipment on time.

Actually, at this time the whole world is facing a severe shortage of a special kind of thing, which is called semiconductor (chip shortage 2021 cause). Today’s world is running because of this semiconductor. All the electronic products or things in which electronics are used in the world are going through a crisis. Due to this, such products are not available in the market even during the festive season in the country.

Why did this crisis come?
Actually, the Corona epidemic has derailed the supply chain all over the world since last year. Countries like Vietnam and Germany, along with China, South Korea, and Taiwan, which are called the hubs of manufacturing globally, were badly affected by Corona. There was a huge impact on production in these countries and due to this the supply was affected at the global level. Meanwhile, during the Corona period, the sales of cars and other vehicles decreased, while companies stopped buying semiconductors, while on the other hand, during the lockdown, the demand for laptops and other electronic products increased significantly all over the world.

Demand for laptops and electronic products increased
Due to this, a large part of semiconductors started going to these areas, but due to the end of the lockdown and the industries coming back on track, the demand for semiconductors in the automobile sector suddenly increased again. In this way, the supply chain of this semiconductor got disturbed all over the world. Now experts are saying that this problem is not going to be fixed very soon, because making semiconductors is a complex task and only a few select companies in the world make it. There is no magic way to increase its production overnight. According to the report, by the year 2023, the markets may have to face this challenge.

What is the impact on India?
India has also been badly affected due to the chip crisis at the global level. Chip is not manufactured in India. We are completely dependent on imports for this. Due to the lack of chips, there is a shortage of everything from cars to laptops in the market at this time. Major car manufacturers like Maruti, Hyundai, and Mahindra are not able to deliver on time to their customers.

Maruti reduced production by 60 percent in September
In the Indian market, the month of September is the most important in terms of the festive season, but this month the major automobile companies of the country had to cut their production by almost half. The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki cut its production by up to 60 percent in September. Mahindra & said that it had to reduce its production by 20 to 25 percent.

Delivery pending for more than 5 lakh cars in India
You can estimate this crisis from the fact that the delivery of more than five lakh cars in the country is pending. In this, the number of cars of Maruti alone is more than 2.15 lakh. On the other hand, Hyundai has taken bookings of more than one lakh cars but it does not have vehicles for supply. The same is the case with Kia, Nishan, and Toyota vehicles.

Waiting for these cars is 3 to 6 months
According to the report of Times of India, at present, the most popular hatchback car of Maruti Swift has a venting of 3 months, while the waiting of Hyundai’s i20 is 4-5 months. Waiting for Brezza in SUV is three months and for Hyundai Creta, you may have to wait for 6 to 7 months.
