New Delhi: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has decided to change the rules. As per the new rules, TRAI is setting up a filter that will block fake calls and SMS from phones from May 1, 2023. After this users will be free from unknown calls and messages.
The new rule applicable from May 1
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued instructions to telecom companies to install spam filters in their phone call and messaging services. This filter will help protect users from fake calls and messages. According to this new rule, all telecom companies related to phone calls and messages will have to install filters before May 1, 2023.
This feature will be launched soon in Jio
Airtel has already announced the facility of such AI filters in this regard. Jio has also prepared to install AI filters in its services under this new rule. There is not much information about this at the moment, but it is estimated that the use of AI filters will start in India from May 1, 2023.
Promotion calls will be banned
TRAI is considering making rules to stop fake calls and messages. Under this, TRAI has demanded to stop promotional calls made on 10-digit mobile numbers. Apart from this, TRAI has also introduced the Caller ID feature, which will display the name and photo of the caller. Telecom companies Airtel and Jio are also in talks with the Truecaller app but are refraining from implementing the caller ID feature as it may cause privacy issues.
