Along with this, McDonald’s India’s West and South franchisees have also stopped serving tomatoes at 10-15% of their stores. The franchisee said in this regard that during the monsoon ‘fruit flies’ is a common problem. Due to this, the batches of bad tomatoes are gradually removed. This is a common seasonal problem that every restaurant faces, usually in monsoons.

Be aware that even in the year 2016, the North and East franchises of India had removed tomatoes from their menu. Even then the reason for this was the poor quality of tomatoes. McDonald’s once took tomatoes off the menu in its UK restaurant due to supply chain problems.
