Mumbai: Famous composer AR Rahman is caught in trouble. Actually, AR Rahman has been sent a notice by the Madras High Court for tax evasion of over Rs 3 crore. AR Rahman is alleged to have given a grant of Rs 3 crore to his own trust ‘AR Rahman Trust’. The Income Tax Department alleges that this grant was given to avoid tax.

According to Income Tax Department lawyer DR Senthil Kumar, in the year 2011-12, Rehman was given Rs 3.47 crore for signing a contract with Libra Mobile based in England. According to this contract, for 3 years Rahman had to make a collar tune exclusively for the company. Rahman had asked the mobile company to pay directly to his trust.

But, according to the rules, this amount was to be received by Rahman himself. Only after paying tax on this amount, he could give that amount to his trust. However, they did not do so. A division bench of Justice TS Sivagyanam and Justice Bhavani has issued notice to Rahman.
