Mumbai: In a harrowing incident on May 13, a massive hoarding toppled onto a petrol pump in the bustling suburb of Ghatkopar, Mumbai, amidst a violent storm. The catastrophic event claimed the lives of 16 individuals, leaving approximately 74 injured. Among the deceased were the maternal uncle and aunt of Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan, who was later identified through personal effects such as rings and jewelry.

The calamity unfolded when the hoarding, battered by the storm’s fury, gave way, causing widespread destruction and chaos. It took rescue workers three days to recover all the bodies, with the identification process hampered by the severe conditions. The revelation that the actor’s relatives were among the victims added a poignant note to the tragedy.

The actor’s maternal uncle, Manoj Chansoria, was a respected figure, having served as the director of Indore Airport. The couple’s final rites were solemnly conducted on Thursday, with Aaryan and his family in attendance, mourning their loss.

In the aftermath, Mumbai Police apprehended Bhavesh Bhinde, the director of the advertising company responsible for the hoarding, signaling a crackdown on those accountable for the mishap.
