New Delhi: The Union Finance Ministry has announced to mint a coin of ₹ 75 to commemorate the inauguration of the new Parliament House. The coin will have ‘Parliament Complex’ written on it along with a picture of the new Parliament House. The inauguration ceremony of the new parliament is going to be held on May 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate it. According to the notification issued by the Union Ministry of Finance, the ₹75 coin will be 44 mm in diameter, with 200 stripes on its edges.
The weight of this 75 rupees coin will be 35 grams and it will have a mixture of 50 percent silver, 40 percent copper, and 5-5 percent nickel and zinc metal. The year 2023 will also be written just below the picture of the new parliament. The minting of this coin will be done in the Kolkata Mint of the Government of India. The lion capital of Ashoka Pillar will be in the center of the obverse of the coin and ‘Satyamev Jayate’ will be written below it. On the left periphery of the coin, India will be written in Devanagari script and India in English.
Similarly, the upper periphery will have Parliament House in Devanagari script and the lower periphery will have Parliament Complex written in English. The design of the coin shall conform to the guidelines specified in the First Schedule to the Constitution. At least 25 parties, including 18 NDA constituents and 7 non-NDA parties, are expected to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament House by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday. While 21 opposition parties have decided to boycott this program.
According to sources in the news agency ANI, the inauguration ceremony of the new parliament will witness various rituals as per the Vedas. The opening ceremony will start at around 12 noon, however, the rituals will start as early as 7:30 am. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has announced that the historical scepter ‘Sengol’ will be kept in the new Parliament House. He also informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will honor about 60,000 workers involved in the construction of the new Parliament building.
