Nagpur: The orange remains in Ambiya Bahhar from August to the end of December, which is at its last stop at this time. Ambiya is the demand for oranges outside the country, not only in the country but in many countries. Bangladesh alone imported 2.5 lakh tonnes of oranges in the last season. The government was sending oranges directly to Bangladesh with the help of Kisan Rail, but this time the atmosphere is looking cold. Apart from this, oranges of Nagpur were also sent to Dubai and Bahrain. Now only a few days are left for Ambiya Bahar to end, so far only 1.5 lakh tonnes of oranges have been exported. There is a demand for 240 tonnes of oranges from Bahrain and Dubai but we are not able to supply them. Due to low demand in the domestic market too, this time the orange growers of Vidarbha have got a double whammy.

Reasons for low exports
Sridharrao Thakre, managing director of Mahaorage Company, said that this time the long rains have caused a lot of damage to the oranges. Due to the rain, about 50 percent of the oranges were thawed and destroyed, half of which was left, the fungus made its prey. Not only this, but all these adverse weather also took away the sweetness of oranges. In Bangladesh, which is the largest importer, the excise duty was increased significantly. Despite the efforts of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Bangladesh did not reduce the excise rate. The station where the train was supposed to stop could not send more bogies due to the problem of the goods being pushed. However, due to the efforts of Gadkari, farmers were given subsidies in the Railways.

Demand is also low in southern states
He told that South India is a very big market in the country, but this time it rained continuously in most of the states of South India, due to which the market could not open. As a result, it became difficult to send oranges from here. In the southern states, much fewer goods could be shipped than average. Due to this also oranges are not getting proper price. If the market had opened, the farmers would have definitely benefited but it could not happen.

Start working on quality and export
Sahyadri Firm Nashik is a leading company of vegetables and fruits. Whose annual turnover is above thousand crores? Mahaorenj has prepared an action plan to increase the production and export of Vidarbha oranges from the Sahyadri firm. The species of Spanish oranges will now be tried in Vidarbha. The yield per hectare of oranges in Spain is 60 to 70 tonnes, while in Vidarbha it is only 5 to 7 tonnes. The benefits of this agreement will also be seen in the coming days.
