Hong Kong: By granting bail to a media professional, Jimmy Lai, a prominent supporter of Democracy in Hong Kong, on Thursday, in a case of cheating charges Refused.
According to the police, Lai is among the 10 people arrested on August 10 on suspicion of violation of the National Security Act and collusion with a foreign country. Lai, the founder of ‘Next Digital’, was then released on bail but the police raided his company’s office in October and took some documents from there.
On Wednesday, Lai and two other executives of Next Digital were charged with cheating and violating leasing rules for office premises. Lai was produced in court on Thursday, where he refused to grant bail. The next hearing in this case will now be held on April 16.
