New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rain in north Gujarat and north and north-west Maharashtra on Wednesday. According to the forecast, Palghar, Thane, and Mumbai may be affected the most due to heavy rains. A cyclonic storm can also hit the coasts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha on Saturday morning. The department said on Tuesday that a cyclonic storm is expected to reach the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha on Saturday morning. The Meteorological Department said that a low-pressure area remained in Thailand and its surrounding areas at 8.30 am. It is likely to reach the Andaman Sea in the next 12 hours.

According to the statement issued by the Meteorological Department, ‘After that, the low-pressure area is likely to move west-northwestwards and turn into a depression in the southeast and adjoining Bay of Bengal by December 2. It is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm over the central Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours.
Rain may increase in eastern states also on December 5-6
IMD forecast ‘Heavy to very heavy rain’ at isolated places over Coastal Odisha and ‘Heavy to very heavy’ rain at isolated places over adjoining interior districts of Odisha, Coastal districts of West Bengal, and North Coastal Andhra Pradesh Is. The IMD said, “There is a possibility that the increased rainfall may increase over the north-eastern states also on December 5-6.”
Elaborating on the movement of the low-pressure area in Odisha and its impact, IMD DG Mrityunjay Mohapatra said, “Though it will be near Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh coast on the morning of December 4, but not immediately off the coast.” Will collide It will gradually move in the north-northeast direction.
He said that a clear picture of rain activity, wind speed, and landslides would be available only after the Lopar (low-pressure area) turns into a depression. He said that wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is likely over Odisha coast from Friday and its speed will increase gradually. It is likely to remain around 60-90 kmph during a cyclonic storm.
