On Indigo flight from Madurai to Delhi Passenger bleeding, dies after emergency landing at Indore airport

Indore: A private airline flight from Madurai to Delhi was diverted after a 60-year-old passenger took ill and landed at Indore’s Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport on Saturday evening due to a medical emergency. Officials gave this information.

Officials said the passenger was taken to a hospital near the airport where doctors declared him brought dead. According to the initial information, Atul Gupta (60), who was on board flight number 6E-2088 of Indigo Airlines, had bleeding from his mouth and his condition started deteriorating mid-way, said Prabodh Chandra Sharma, Director-in-Charge of the airport.

He said that due to a medical emergency, the Madurai-Delhi flight was diverted to Indore and landed at the local airport around 05:30 pm on Saturday.

Sharma said from the airport, Gupta was sent to a private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. According to a doctor who took Gupta from the airport to the hospital, he was already suffering from heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes, they said.

Sharma said that the Madurai-Delhi flight of IndiGo left for the original destination at 06:40 pm on Saturday after the passenger was dropped at the Indore airport to be sent to the hospital. A sub-inspector of Aerodrome police station said that Gupta was a resident of Noida and his body would be handed over to his relatives after the post-mortem.
